What is DRTV? (Direct Response Television)

DRTV consists of short-form commercials (usually 60 to 120 seconds) and long-form infomercials (28 1/2 minutes) that offer a direct response to buy a product or service. The response mechanism is generally a toll free phone, but can also be through a web site. DRTV can also be used to drive sales of products in retail stores.

DRTV commercials and infomercials contrast with brand building commercials whose objective is to increase the visibility of a product brand.
